Ashley Alexander and Jack Utrata (Lullaby, Shakespeare in Quarantine, The Sonnet Project) won a Special Jury Award for their pilot "11 Blocks To Go" at the Los Angeles Film Awards last evening after being named a finalist last week.
"11 Blocks To Go" follows two ride-or-die besties, Samantha and Drew, a rambunctious pair of late 20 somethings in NYC who agree to a 3-month pact to reshape their lives and face their inner demons. But addressing the past turns out to be more than bargained for with this no-boundaries, co-dependent duo. Packed with romance and many of life's most grueling complications, "11 Blocks To Go" offers a glimpse into the vulnerable and beguiling human condition.
LAFA is the fourth nomination and second win for the writer duo for this project. Last month they won "Best Romantic Comedy Teleplay at the Austin Comedy Film Festival, and have placed as Semi-Finalists in both The Big Apple Film Festival in New York and The Hollywood Just4Shorts Film & Screenplay Competition.
Alexander and Utrata are slated to star in the comedy Fall of 2023.
"Los Angeles Film Awards (LAFA) is a monthly competition for filmmakers and screenwriters from all over the world. LAFA is the first festival to receive 400+ five-star reviews on FilmFreeway, out of over 8,000 film festivals.
Our mission is to promote films, and be another step up in the filmmakers' careers. Each month, our Jury will award the best films through private screenings, and make a special interview with the winner of the Best Picture award.
